Use this method when you have your next disagreement. I’m gonna be honest though. Some of us like myself wants the other person to get straight to the point. .The sh*t. . But it’s better to use this approach and err on the safe side rather than going straight for the jugular. Use this the next time you have a disagreement with someone you care about. And remember, don’t mistake a disagreement for a fight. . ps: I’ll be posting 3 bullet Friday soon. Persistence, by definition, is determination in a course of action in spite of obstacles. This is where most students fail, in the same way most adults fail, to achieve their goals. We therefore don’t prep students properly for adapting for lack of habits to form persistence. Daily, we desire change-- eating healthier, being proactive. But fail in execution. Wendy Wood, in her book Good Habits, Bad Habits, shares the 19th century concept of homo economicus-- which assumes that humans act with perfect rationality. Wood refutes, saying we don’t truly understand our own behaviors, and, moreover, indications are we act quite irrationally. Therefore, strong intentions will only help students get to a certain threshold. Parents and teachers should be equally concerned with the student’s process for achieving their goals as their goals themselves. Beyond a student's initial intent for change, they must learn to build habits that allow them to persist through obstacles. It is then they will build tools for lasting change, and recognize their own power for personal growth. Processes, therefore, matter more than goals. #personaldevelopment   #education   #school   #student   #persistent   #habits   #growth   #personalgrowth   #practice   #behaviors

Y’all meet Bob. Bob is an absolute BEAST in the gym. He’s a hard worker and a strong, STRONG dude! For the past month, we’ve been testing our 60 second max calories on the assault bike every Friday. Today was my first opportunity to be there with him when he did it. I told Bob before we got started that I was going to push him to the limit and drive him to do more than he’s done before. This morning, he got an all time personal best and was right around a 50% improvement from just two weeks ago! Here’s the takeaway... Bob didn’t get that much stronger in less than a month. Bob had that in him from the start. He just needed someone to push him past his perceived limits. He needed someone to tell him to go harder when his mind and body were telling him that he should stop. I love seeing people accomplish things they didn’t think possible! I love helping them learn more and put processes in place to reach their goals. If you need that encouragement- let me be that for you! Bullying, gossiping, incivility, deceit, manipulation, and other unkind behaviors are merely symptoms of an individual's unhappiness and insecurity with themselves. This is not intended to be a self-righteous post. It is a self-reflection of my own journey, my experience with others and considerable research around disruptive behaviors and self-esteem. I know that when I have behaved in unkind ways toward others, it has been more a reflection of how I am feeling about myself than how I am feeling about that person. Leading Like No Other involves a great deal of self-reflection and inward growth before we can truly inspire others to follow our lead. A 10 year long study led by Caroline Richards of the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom found that people with autism who are hyperactive or have difficulty controlling their own impulses are most likely to show persistent self-injury. The study reported that almost half of the people with ASD involve in self harming tendencies such as hair pulling, skin pulling etc. These behaviors, once they become repetitive, can lead to various detrimental consequences. #psychology #psychologs #psychologsmagazine #news #longitudinal #persistent #selfharm #people #asd #study #universityofbirmingham #uk #hyperactive #hairpulling #behaviors #repetitive #various

Hi! I’m Rebecca! Today I’m wrapping up my week of tips to help you develop a new habit/behavior for yourself, your children or your whole family. You can check out past tips on SMART goals, Friction, Micro-Commitment & Jedi Mind Tricks @ real.life.parent.coaching Tip #5 - Plan for Obstacles! 👉🏼Don’t let obstacles like weather or time give you an excuse to skip a day. If you are prepared with an alternative, you will have a better shot at 🎉success🎉. 🎯If it rains, run on the treadmill or take your baby in a stroller around the mall. 🎯If your friend can’t walk with you, then listen to a podcast on your walk instead. 👉🏼Don’t let a blip get in the way! If your plan doesn’t work out one day, don’t get discouraged. Just try again!! Current research shows there is no specific amount of time that solidifies a habit. What makes a habit stick is the positive emotion 🥰the brain connects with the behavior. 🎉SUCCESS🎉 triggers positive emotions towards the new behavior ➡️ Feeling good 🥰encourages you to do it again ➡️Repetition fires brain activity which increases the likelihood of forming a habit!! What GETS 💥FIRED💥in the brain, GETS WIRED in the brain! Hope you found some of these tips helpful!! ❤️Double click❤️ if you think you might try some! Drop a comment and tell me what your takeaways were!! I’d love to hear!!

I DON'T THINK YOU CAN BE CONSISTENT. At least not in the way we talk about it - doing the same behaviors day after day, week after week, year after year. I'm sorry, but I can’t. I can't do the same things every single week. None of my weeks are the same. Some weeks my husband is here and sometimes he's gone for two weeks, and for better or worse that affects my behaviors because I've got two little kids and a business and I can't do it alone. So I don't workout the same number of times each week. Some weeks I plan 2-3 meals and other weeks I throw stuff together. I'm fine with this because I know a healthy lifestyle means knowing how to adapt during busy seasons, the holidays, the summer, etc. I think the whole "be consistent" thing is making everyone feel bad all the time. Because no one can do exactly the same things every week - the same workouts, meal prep every Sunday, sleep 8 hours every night, or drink five hundred thousand gallons of water every day. SOMETHING will come up. A work trip, a funeral, a friend in town. So then what? I'm all about changing habits and creating routines, and I do think consistency is important. But I also think we need to reframe the idea of consistency because the view we currently have is impossible to live up to. What you really need to be consistent with is: 1. Educating yourself on what a healthy lifestyle is so you can learn how to be flexible 👋🏻 hi, come on over and chat with me and I can tell ya if you don’t know. 2. Letting go of the idea that every week should look the same. 3. Being gracious towards yourself. 4. Learning how to adapt in situations so a work trip, vacation, co-worker, family member, etc. doesn't completely throw you off your game. 5. Keeping a long-term mindset. 6. Seeking out nutrition information from qualified professionals who can help you with all of the above. I was excited to have this epiphany because it meant I could stop feeling like a failure all. the. time. and just accept that consistency is impossible. There are seasons I can be super consistent and seasons I cannot. And that's okay. Do you feel this way or do you think you can be consistent? I'm curious 👇🏻

Do you ever wonder why two similar people with the same health goals achieve completely different outcomes? It has a lot to do with their habits and mindsets. Our habits are our unconscious behaviors that we do like eating or moving our bodies in a certain way. And our mindset is the way we think about health and ourselves which impacts the way we take action towards something. There is nothing wrong with wanting to help. In fact, that’s a beautiful piece of the human experience, and a part of being in relationship with others. We are meant to grow, support and encourage one another. However what happens is we far too often stretch beyond our limits, and wonder why we then feel tired, hurt and used. ____ In order to really show up for others, you have to come from a boundary led perspective. Here, you’ll ensure your own sanity + peace, while allowing yourself to show up for others. It really is the only way to do it effectively + sanely. ______ Do you struggle with this? How so? 👇🏼 _____ #boundaries #codependent #emotionalwellbeing #growth #relationships #freedom #empowered #friendships #family #connections #mentalhealth #love #intimacy #attachment #behaviors #destruction #selfsabotage #selfworth #reminders #healing

In my experience as a teacher, I always felt like February was such a rise in behavioral challenges. Kids are exhausted. Teachers need a break. Some schools don't even get February breaks anymore! So, it can be the long haul until April break.⁣ ⁣ Just a reminder that when challenges come up, de-escalate first and problem-solve later. Kids and teens can't think clearly when they are overwhelmed. As adults, we don't either. Help facilitate calm so that you can get back to what you do best- teach.

Just as two personal fields that vibrate at the same frequency create a relationship, so too often they end when the vibration of one participant's field changes. If the vibration of a field changes, as often happens after a spiritual awakening, it is natural for some people to move away because they can no longer interact in the same efficiency and tune as before. You may no longer feel comfortable with that person or group of friends (Penney Peirce ). As we begin to change our frequency, the universe begins to look for new people, situations, and learning that are on the same page with us. Some friends leave and others come out of nowhere. When we are rising, changing and awakening to deeper things many people come out of our lives, they no longer match who we are energetically. When it comes to love relationships, it is recommended that you both seek to grow and develop together, so you remain harmonized at the same frequency. Otherwise the relationship ends up having a lot of silly fights, you can no longer see your partner the same way. The same goes for friends and family. Are you feeling it? Everything that doesn't match our current frequency is drifting away. And that includes thoughts, feelings, emotions, people, ways and ways of life. The old is being removed, making room for what is new. The earth is rising and all density and low vibrations are being revealed to dissipate. People are increasingly awakening and feeling the call to fulfill their soul purpose. That is why everything that is not vibrating at the same spiritual frequency will distance itself as you come into contact with your essence, your true self. And those at the same frequency will be drawn to you and you to them. You will find out how amazing it is when the right people appear at the right times in the most spontaneous and divine way (A. Unknown ). Post by xamanicos

This may be a bit hyperbolic. I’m sure even if we knew someone’s bkrnd & what challenges they’d dealt w in the past, there are certain actions they engage in now, that’d still make it difficult for us to LOVE them. . That said, maybe we’d be able to better UNDERSTAND them/their actions? . This thought came to me as I was reading that article on the NYPD in the Post (posted in IG stories ) abt the greater sensitivities cops are being asked to use, when describing cases where someone is being a public disturbance. Unfortunately, the Post tracked down quotes from some cops who had some “not so very nice” things to say abt ppl in the past who they’d referred to as “emotional disturbed.” I don’t think most cops feel that way. But I do see how watching someone do something repeatedly, can wear on/frustrate them. . I got to thinking...isn’t it literally an education piece we’re missing? If we taught the concept that: 1 ) Life Events/Complications, lead to 2 ) Unmet Needs, which lead to 3 ) Uncomfortable Feelings, Physical Sensations, & Thoughts, which ultimately lead to 4 ) Behaviors...wouldn’t we have greater compassion no matter how erratic or difficult the behaviors? . Parents w Kids, Teachers w Students, First Responders w Citizens, etc., etc., if we were all taught to consider that the behavior wasn’t based on how someone WANTS to act out, but based on underlying factors that so often stem from life events they had little/no control over...wouldn’t we all treat each other more kindly & look to get to the source & help before jumping to conclusions? . May be idealistic. But I do think that as my friend David describes: someone cuts us off while driving, & immediately we think: “I cant believe that A-hole chose to cut ME off & totally disrespect ME.” We all can be guilty at times of jumping to conclusions abt behaviors of others. ... #SameHere 🤙 The Global MH Movement to normalize the conversation. Until we acknowledge we all face challenges, even at different levels, & that those challenges affect our MH, we can’t come together to change the paradigm. This is a #5in5 topic. sameheremovement.org #SameHere 🤙 #5in5 #iRel8 #feelings #behaviors #needs

I’ll be honest. Today, I had a VERY ⓉⓄⓊⒼⒽ day!!! 🙁I left feeling defeated & feeling like my room was a chaotic mess. BUT, then I thought about this statement: . “BEHAVIOR IS COMMUNICATION.” . Our students’ behaviors (even though they might be frustrating ) are a form of communication. Our job as educators, is to recognize that AND then, to TRY to figure out how to help these students in any way that we can ❤️ . . SO, if you’re feeling defeated like me today, remember: if you are at least acknowledging that the behaviors your students might be displaying are a form of communication, then you are doing what’s right for kids! Keep on keepin’ on 🚂 . Never has a shirt been so true.
