A little sample of the warm up I do to get going before my squats, this is not structured and changes every tome with some of the same principles — do what feels good, sweat a little, begin to prepare the glutes, core and quads for losing (as these are areas that provide a challenge to me from tome to time ), and take time to forget about everything else going on. Every second of my warmups I am thinking about nothing other than the feeling of winning. Squatting a new PB. Breaking a national record. Winning a world championship. B A K A S A N A • Also known as crow pose, is an asana that falls under mixed categorizes because it’s a combination of strength, balance, endurance, an inversion (which is any pose that has your head lower than your heart — like downward facing dog or headstands, etc. ) and mental training — and maybe even courage and trust (in yourself that you won’t face-plant-and-die and that you are equipped to actually do it ). . As I’ve been saying, everyone (teachers, students & enthusiasts ) will have different approaches to each asana. What’s important is that we have an open mind & heart to let each person get from point A to B. Some approaches could work better for others, or not. What’s important is that we try. 🙂 There will be others suggesting preparation poses, while others will use blocks, belts, pillows, etc. and that’s also worth trying! People will have different challenges (like how i struggle with my dislocated shoulder ), and also situations (like how the lower half of my body has changed because i got way too excited at the gym using weights to build that bubble butt 😅 ) — so if you’re not sure, especially if you have recommendations from your doctor or physiotherapist, do take those into consideration. . I’m currently in a hostel, with no blocks or other props, so I’ve been getting creative looking for substitutes. Plus as a nomad/backpacker, I only have 2 sets of yoga outfits (which were drying on the rooftop at this time of filming 😅 ) so yeah... My point being is: You just have to show up. Decide you want to do yoga, and just do it. Don’t worry about buying all the props (there will be substitutes ), or say you can’t do yoga because you don’t have the right clothes (but yeah, would be nice to look cute, or have the right stuff for the right temperatures wherever you are, but it is not necessary (my first ever yoga class i was wearing my running shorts and shirt 😅 )— just make sure you can comfortably move, and you’re all set. . . My kid told me I have a “gross butt”..... kid, normally this would hurt coming from a dude, but lucky for you, I already know it 🤣 Serious note tho- I realize my physique is nothing, right now, like the professional photo I posted the other day. It’s not a secret and I’m not embarrassed. It is what it is and the gain was needed- mentally and physically. My weigh has fluctuated for the last almost year between 150-160lbs. Much water variations and some fat gain, hopefully a little muscle. The difference between being upset by this and being absolutely crushed is The goal I have and the commitment to that goal. Take in stride any weight gain if your goal is to get stronger, bigger-give yourself some grace. My current goals go far beyond aesthetics. I decided I wanted to eat more intuitively, enjoy “indulgences” more and be stronger. My time will come where I will go to bed hungry- it will happen sooner than later if the meet in May is cancelled. But I won’t stress about something I am choosing. Do i feel sexy? No. Is anyone seeing me naked currently? No. Would it matter if I was? Nope. My body. My goals. My mental well being. Get your own! Besides, confidence is sexy. Work ethic is sexy. Strong is sexy. “Gross butt” my ass, Kid.

My brother Tony killed me with a circuit tonight - I can tell I’m getting stronger just in the 2 weeks I’ve been doing at home circuits with body weight. It REALLY does make a difference. One of the biggest changes I’ve made in my life is not my nutrition, not my workouts, but my mindset and most importantly my mindset about self love. - - For years I tried to reach this unobtainable goal of being someone I wasn’t. I never felt good enough in my own skin - - I would straighten my hair everyday, id starve myself to achieve the goal of one day being a twig, I’d look in the mirror and pick out every flaw possible. - - But then I realized why would I spend my entire life hating the person who is staring back at me. Why not embrace and nurture the girl in to growing to be an amazing person. - - I have curls (it’s not going to change ), I am curvy(and will never be a twig ,genetics ), I laugh loud (can’t help it ) and I smile so big it’s all teeth(I’m a happy person ). - - I am me and I love everything that makes me who I am because there is no one else who is. We all have days of insecurities as doubt but just remember you are special because no one never will be you.
