BLOG POST 〰️ On Steadiness During Uncertain Times. We’re all still learning how to adjust to this new way of living. Realistically it’s going to be like this way for longer than we initially expected. I continue to have good days and bad days, but as we complete week 3 of social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic I find myself feeling more steady than I did in those first few days...thank goodness because wow, those were really difficult. I’ve been slowly creating this blog post over the last couple of weeks to share with you. It covers the things I and we (my husband and I ) have been doing to stay as steady as possible during this time. I touch on a lot in the post - people, professional supports, lifestyle actions, and food - and I hope if you read it you’re able to take at least one thing away that you can use to serve and support yourself and/or your family. As much as I enjoyed all of the treats I had on my birthday..... I woke up feeling like absolute 💩. I don’t even want to know how many grams of sugar I consumed 😂 s/o to my pancreas for producing insulin on double time yesterday u da real MVP ••• I went back and calculated roughly how many calories I consumed yesterday and it ended up being ~4,200 🙊 ••• Does that mean that I restricted myself from food today? Absolutely not. ••• I’m fact, I approached my meals today from a place of ABUNDANCE. NOT RESTRICTION! I wanted to give myself all of the nutrients it needed so that I could get back to feeling normal! ••• So what did that look like? I had my normal 3 meals and I based them all around having a fruit or vegetable and a protein source and then I added on from there. I drank water before, after, and in between all of my meals. ••• If you’ve gotten of track one day or even just one meal, you’re okay. You’re not going to ruin all of your progress, I promise. You are still a good person. No need to freak out. Just get back to your normal healthy habits during your next meal/day : )

guess whose got underwear on for the first time in two weeks 🙃 • but on the real, tonight I’m happy. not cuz it’s Friday but because I was able to lead my first virtual guided meditation session. I still get nervous before teaching a class even though I’ve been doing it for over four years now and tonight was no different. I mean it was different in the sense that this was the first time I was teaching something other than cycling but also teaching virtually; offering something so personal and deeply impactful for me but no different in the sense I was REALLY nervous. turns out I had nothing to be nervous about, everything flowed as it has a million times in the past, at least I think it went well, and I think I’ll make it a thing. its like riding a bike I guess, which I REALLY miss but may be doing sooner rather than later, stay tuned 😉 • ps - one thing that hasn’t changed is I still sweat a lot when I’m nervous. oh and also note to self, make sure it’s recording 🤦🏾‍♀️ it’s okay though, gonna keep moving forward! see ya next week, same time, same place. grab a drank!

Walks-Between (A Spotify Playlist—link in bio ) Once, while parked in front of the post office in San Juan, Puerto Rico, I heard “Angelitos Negros” on the radio, sung by Eartha Kitt. The music transported me to another place—justified by the sublime vibration of Eartha’s voice and also the dream-like music. Right now, I also think of the movie Beetlejuice, how “Jump In the Line” by Harry Belafonte plays over the end credits, stopping time with its sound somewhere between dimensions…the music with its subtle supernatural drive and masterful balance of layers, sound textures, and reverberation…Harry’s voice leading the way with verve, masterful command and punctuation. In that spirit goes this playlist, comprised of 8 songs totaling 23 minutes, including Harry Belafonte, Yma Sumac, Rosemary Clooney with Pérez Prado, La Lupe, Josephine Baker with Lecuona Cuban Boys, Eartha, Mina, and Iris Chacón. Vocês me desculpem, mas se eu não movimentar o feed com os vídeos de treino que tenho, eu não posto nunca mais... é a única coisa que eu faço 🥺🤣 . O #tbt é desse treino do Satanás que o @ivanpontess puxou pra mim e pra @suynavarro e foi o seguinte: 1️⃣ 2x 20 aquecimento no smith sem carga (ou beeem leve! ); 2️⃣ 4x 10 aumentando a carga, acabando a última com sua carga máx. Eu estava na 3a série nesse primeiro vídeo; 3️⃣ 1x 6-6-6, sendo 6 segurando na fase excêntrica (descida ), tira peso e faz mais 6 segurando na concêntrica (subida ), tira peso e faz mais 6 super slow (descida E subida ) e por fim até a falha com mesma carga. É o segundo vídeo e esse é matador; 4️⃣ 4x15 leg press (4reps normais + 1rep super slow até completar as 15 ). Welcome to my office (bed ) 🤪 Therapy Friday today and even that was from my bed... Been doing every thing from...my bed lol it’s why it’s a great time to implement a daily routine. I’m challenging myself to 30 days of a morning ritual (NO EXCUSES ) 1. Wake up at 7am! Turn off alarm - NO SCREEN TIME 2. Drink 2 cups of water 3. Get or make coffee/smoothie/kombucha/tea 4. Make bed 5. Guided meditation 6. 30 minutes of movement (yoga or a walk ) 7. Get ready for my day 8.
